Scoring
What the score is looking for
Scores are editorial estimates based on public evidence. They are designed to help readers compare momentum, not crown permanent winners.
A high score means a company is stacking public proof: certification progress, flying aircraft, named markets, infrastructure partners, funding, and a business model a regulator can approve.
A low score is not a takedown. Plenty of serious engineering scores low because certification, manufacturing, or a clear buyer path has not been proven in public yet.
Certification gets an aircraft approved. Vertiports, charging, maintenance, trained pilots, and local approvals are what actually put passengers in seats — so they carry real weight here.
Scores move on verifiable signals: regulator milestones, route and market commitments, production evidence, and credible funding. Concept videos and renderings do not move the board.
