If by flying car you mean a normal car you can drive out of your garage, pull onto a road, and then fly above traffic, the mainstream answer is no.
If you mean a personal electric aircraft, ultralight-style vehicle, or future eVTOL that private buyers may reserve or purchase, the answer gets more interesting.
Several companies are working on personal flying vehicles, including aircraft aimed at owner-operators rather than scheduled air taxi service. But buyers need to understand the difference between reservations, prototypes, limited production, regulatory categories, and fully certified commercial aircraft.
The first wave of personal flying vehicles is likely to be expensive, restricted, and operationally specific. Owners may need training, suitable landing areas, local permission, storage, maintenance, insurance, and a clear understanding of where the aircraft can legally fly.
The dream is simple. The ownership reality is aviation.
